“A Picture Worth a Thousand Words” Winner and Inspiration!

Sometimes as photographers we spend so much time working on setting up our shots, planning the wardrobes, purchasing and finding props that it’s easy to get burnt out and quite frankly, there are days some of us would rather leave our camera at home when going out for a stroll or over to the family bbq. Those moments that are candid and unplanned though are so precious and when we looked through some of the images this week, there were some that brought tears.  We wanted to see images for this weeks theme that told a story and that evoked the emotions of the heart! This week the winning image description read like this:

“Evan was diagnosed on the first day of school with Osteosarcoma (bone cancer). After 9 months of intense chemotherapy, multiple surgeries, and a total life change, he came home from his final treatment to his street filled with hundreds of well-wishers…and a fire truck escort! Evan is now in remission!”

Winner: London’s Bridge Photography for this very moving image. Evan, our prayers and hearts go out to you and your family! What an amazing and strong young man you are!

  1. Oh, my gosh! So excited to see my Papa Dean here! 🙂 He is going to be sooooo happy to see this. I absolutely cannot wait to show him tomorrow. Thank you so much. This means a lot to me and my family that others can appreciate this handsome man! 🙂 It was his 82nd birthday 2 days ago and he is holding his own senior portrait from when he was 18.

Almost every photo posted on your wall for this challenge brought tears to my eyes. Really nice to see meaningful photographs and an inspirational theme. Great reminder that photography is about the subjects, and not just the photographer. Quite humbling.

  2. Thank you so much for including this photo of my husband’s Grandparents. It is so close to my heart! They have been together close to 60 years. They have taken me in and loved me as one of their own. Gram was just diagnosed with cancer last month. I am so happy to have had the chance to document their lasting love and wonderful bond. Thank you again!!
